SSIS His Ways are not our ways!

Hello my friends!  It's Sunday and time for another Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge!  Today I am the hostess, and I have chosen the following Scripture and challenge:

Isaiah 55:8-9
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

My challenge is to create a card or project that depicts the
sharp contrast of black and white or ivory.

Several years ago I received one of those forwarded emails that often we might not even have time to read.  This one spoke to me on many levels and I printed it off to read often. I have no idea where it had its origin.   It contrasted many of the thoughts and feelings that we often have and God’s answers to these thoughts and feelings.   Through the years, I have added several additional items to the list, and I’m sure I will continue to as God brings things to my heart.  Today, I thought I’d do something a little different and just list off some of these contrasting thoughts…. How we think, and what God says.  I hope some of these will encourage you as much as they have me!  Truly, His ways are not our ways…. And these verses are just a few examples of that!
We say “it’s impossible”.  God says:  ALL things are possible.  “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.”(Luke 18:27)
We say “I’m too weary”.  God says:  “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  (Matt. 11:28-30)
We say “I’m too weak”.  God says:  “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”. (2 Cor. 12:9)
We say “My sin is too great”.  God says:  Your sins are forgiven.   (“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Ps. 103:12)
We say “No one really loves me”.  God says:  I love you!  (“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him shall be saved”. John 3:16)
We say “I CAN’T do it”.  God says: You can do all things.  (“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me”. Phil. 4:13)
We say “I don’t know how”.  God says: I will direct your steps.  (“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Prov. 3:5-6)
We say “I‘m not able”.  God says: I am able.  (“God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything; you may have an abundance for every good deed.” 2 Cor. 9:8)
We say “It’s not worth it”.  God says: It will be worth it. (“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose”. Rom. 8:28)
We say “I can’t manage”.  God says: I will supply all your needs.  (“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:19)
We say “I’m not smart enough”.  God says: I will give you wisdom.  (“If any of you lacks wisdom let him ask of God who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5)
We say “I’m worried and anxious”.  God says: Cast all your cares on me. (“…Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” 1 Pet. 5:7)
We say “I feel so alone”.  God says: I will never leave you or forsake you. (Heb. 13:5)

One of the things that jumped out at me about these negative feelings and thoughts that are common to all of us is that they could possibly keep us from moving forward in our relationship with the Lord, and might even cripple us for the rest of our lives if we don’t really first of all recognize where they are coming from (Satan himself), and then intentionally replace them with God’s thoughts and promises, which we are given in His Word.

Paul tells us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor. 10:5).   I do believe this includes all those little things we allow to nag us that do not come in line with His Word.  Satan is the great deceiver, and tells us lies all the time with the hope of keeping us defeated, doubtful, fearful and anxious.  If we listen to his lies, we will indeed be crippled in our Spiritual walk, but praise God, we are NOT slaves to sin any more if we have accepted Christ as our Savior!  We ALL struggle with these feelings… me included, but we don’t have to be enslaved to them!  That’s one of the many reasons why we need to be bathing our hearts and minds in God’s Word continually, so that we will have HIS thoughts and promises indelibly inscribed in our hearts when the evil one tries to fill us with negative feelings that come from negative thoughts!  I pray for all of us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ!

My card is made with Layers of Color Touch of Elegance and Gifts of Love clear art stamp sets.  I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black onto Gina K Pure Luxury Ivory.  I matted and cut my Spellbinders Fleur de Lis border from Basic Black, as well as the SB Fleur de Lis Accents and Motifs for my framing of the sentiment. I used a precut label from a Making Memories Black Tie pack for the sparkly matting of my sentiment.  My embellishments are a single silk rose with pearls (from the bridal dept of Michaels) and some single pearls on the Fleur de Lis border.  I embossed the lower edge with a Cuttlebug Fleur de Lis border ef as well.  The bow is May Arts.  I love the elegance of black and ivory...

Oh Grace~

What a beautiful way of sharing today. I have seen that "section" passed around by email. And, I never tire of is perfect. I have suggested that people copy and paste it, and keep one by the phone and one in their purse, and one in their that if a friend calls with a problem, they will have the Scripture answer right there, or if they are praying and realize they are stuck I do...they know what God wants us to realize...and so on. I love when you share from the heart. You are such a blessing in my life, and in other lives also, I am sure!

Your card is incredible. I love black and white elegant! The beautiful flower, ribbon and the pearls...loveliness at it's best! The die cuts are striking! I love the details you have put on this card...and I really like the way that Sentiment is stamped...I like the font they used!

What a wonderful piece to read, Grace, and a beautiful card to admire. The day is off to a good start!

He IS Able!

Grace, thank you for sharing these poignant thoughts. They come at a time when I've been stuck in some of this negative thinking... "I don't know that I can do this".

No, I can't do this alone, but it's not about me. Rather, it's about God providing each moment what I need for the next step.

Thank you for affirming for me what I already knew but just needed to hear again.

It makes me wonder...How anyone can live without Our Lord in their lives....I have recently gone through a very hurtful loss...not death, but a loss in friendship. I have never gone through anything like this before in my many years...If it weren't for my faith, I would have probably cracked, but for Him, I am well and happy, knowing that there is a reason...Thank you Grace!
